Agritourism is a relatively recent buzzword but definitely not new in terms of opportunities. With deep agriculture roots, the Finger Lakes offers many experiences and activities that get you to the heart of our family farms. Visit family-owned and operated Reisinger's Apple Country - a fall tradition in the Finger Lakes! Enjoy a horseback ride through picturesque fields and forests with Painted Bar Stables. Sample local-crafted cheese at one of our local creameries including Shtayburne Farm or attend the famous Finger Lakes Cheese Festival at Sunset View Creamery, which takes place each July. Meet animals at the Farm Sanctuary - you can even stay overnight in one of their cozy cabins or newly added tiny homes. Or explore locally-produced products at a seasonal farmers market including the Watkins Glen Farmers Market hosted in LaFayette Park on 4th Street in Watkins Glen on Fridays from late-May through mid-October, and the Montour Falls Farmers Market on West Main Street in Montour Falls on Thursdays, May through October. The traditions of our family farms and the dedication of our many local producers are together a hallmark of our region.
Arts & Culture
Schuyler County and the surrounding area are rich in arts and culture. Take a tour through a historic museum or historical society including The Brick Tavern Museum in Montour Falls. Arrange a tour of a one-room school house such as the Lee School, both operated by the Schuyler County Historical Society. Attend an artist reception, take a class, and find the perfect gift or souvenir at the Franklin Street Gallery and Gift Shop, in Watkins Glen. Listen to live music at a lakeside restaurant or local winery or brewery. Watch artists blow glass at the nearby Corning Museum of Glass or spin fiber, right before your eyes.
