What makes the Finger Lakes famous besides the beauty and wonder of the region? Wineries! They are at the top of the attraction-wish-lists of most visitors! Known to some as the “Napa Valley of the East”, Watkins Glen and Schuyler Couty are in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country, at the base of Seneca Lake. There are over 50 wineries to visit on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, pleasing every beginning taster or wine enthusiast. If wine isn’t your favorite, Schuyler County also has two micro-breweries to enjoy, as well as a brand new distillery offering spirits produced from locally-grown ingredients!  

Seneca Lake, the deepest of the Finger Lakes, actually controls the climate on the surrounding hillsides. This is ideal for the vineyards and grapes. The lake never freezes and retains the summer warmth which keeps the hillsides ripe for growing the tasty fruits. Not only does the lake help control the climate, but the unique climate also produces different tasting wines on each shore!This climate is also very conducive for the distillery for the same reasons!
